Depression is a terrifying thing because it comes and goes as it pleases, without warning. You can wake up one day being the happiest you’ve ever been, glad that you struggled through the dark days, and by nighttime you’re back to rock bottom again. You’re even more scared when you’re happy, because you’re trying to guess at when your next fall is going to be. Sometimes you’ll be happy for days, months, years; and then it just smacks you and takes your breath away and suddenly, after all the hard work you put forth, you’re drowning and gasping for air again.
